Diabetics frequently experience difficulties with their feet. If you have diabetes or a family member or friend with the disease has lost one of your toes, feet, or leg, daily foot care can reduce your risk of developing serious complications. Maintaining a healthy level of blood glucose, often known as blood sugar, can be beneficial to your foot health. Doral Health & Wellness makes it simple to schedule an appointment with the Podiatrist in Brownsville whenever it is convenient for you. Podiatrists are medical doctors and surgeons who specialize in treating conditions affecting the lower extremities. In terms of the lower limbs, they do assessments, injury care, and surgical procedures. If you have diabetes and are having foot problems, see a specialist at the Diabetic Foot Doctor.

Advice on Maintaining Healthy Feet

Always examine your feet for signs of injury or change, such as cuts, redness, swelling, ulcers, blisters, corns, calluses, and more. If you can’t see your feet, either get a mirror or get a close relative to assist you.

Don’t forget to give your feet a daily soak in a lukewarm bath. Avoid getting your feet wet. After washing and drying your feet, put cream on the soles and the tops of your feet, to avoid the space between your toes.

Put on a pair of shoes that fits you snugly. To get the most comfortable fit, test on new footwear at night, when your feet are at their widest. Wear your new shoes for short periods of time each day to break them in and maximize comfort. Socks should be worn at all times when stepping out in public.

Wear shoes at all times. Wear footwear or sandals at all times, even around the house. Be sure that the inside of your shoes is smooth and free of any stones or other debris before you set off.

Pick something you can do while wearing shoes, such as walking, cycling, or swimming. Get in touch with your doctor to find out what kinds of physical activity are safe and healthy for you to participate in.

If your toenails are too long, file them down and trim them straight across. Toenails should be trimmed by a podiatrist only if you are unable to view or grab your feet.

Do not attempt to remove corns or calluses on your own, and by all means, do not use any over-the-counter products intended for this purpose.

Maintain a steady flow of blood. At regular intervals during the day, place your feet up and wriggle them.

Your feet should be evaluated at each medical checkup. And remember to check your feet’s sensation and blood flow once a year at a minimum with a full exam from your foot doctor.
